The milk thistle plant has been called “the liver’s bodyguard” for centuries. Roman naturalist Pliny the Elder (23–79 AD) already mentioned it as a remedy for “carrying bile away,” which shows how long it’s been trusted as a liver tonic.

Milk Thistle Seed is the raw herbal form of the Silybum marianum plant. It’s the part of the plant that contains the highest concentration of silymarin, the active compound that supports liver health. Unlike extracts (which are concentrated), the whole seed can be used in teas, tinctures, or ground into powder.

Milk Thistle Seed

  • Comes from the flower heads of the milk thistle plant, native to the Mediterranean.
  • Looks like small, hard, brownish-gray seeds.
  • Used for liver protection, detox, and digestive support for centuries.

Tincture Made by soaking crushed seeds in alcohol for a strong extract.
