What is Helichrysum

• Botanical name: Helichrysum italicum
• Often called “Immortelle” or “Everlasting”, because its flowers retain their shape and color even after drying.
• Native to the Mediterranean region (France, Italy, Croatia, and Corsica are major producers).

How is the oil made

Helichrysum essential oil is extracted through steam distillation of the flowering tops of the plant. The process is delicate, and because the flowers yield very little oil, it tends to be one of the more expensive essential oils.

• Warm, herbaceous, slightly honey-like
• Some describe it as earthy with a hint of tea and spice
