Bay leaf is a classic culinary and medicinal herb that has been used for centuries. It comes from the bay laurel tree (Laurus nobilis), an evergreen shrub native to the Mediterranean.

Bay Leaf Leaves are dark green, leathery, and aromatic.

  • Sold in two forms:
  • Fresh bay leaves → more herbal, mild, and slightly bitter.
  • Dried bay leaves → stronger, sharper aroma, used in most cooking.
  • Not usually eaten directly because they remain tough after cooking, they are used mainly for flavor infusion.
